20 lb Box of Scrap Slate

A full, heavy box of quarry scrap. It's our best value in a Medium box. We hand-gather every piece from the rubble piles of our quarry in the historic Peach Bottom slate region on the Susquehanna, where Welsh quarrymen split this blue-black stone by hand more than a century ago. Expect warm rust tones and plenty of character.

• 20+ pounds of mixed scrap slate pieces, mostly 2–8 inches, in random shapes
• Choose your thickness: Thin (1/4–1/2 in), Medium (1/2–1 in) or Thick (1–2 in). Thicker means fewer, chunkier pieces at the same weight
• Gathered, sorted by thickness and packed by us

Use it for slate mulch around plants, drainage and fill, large aquarium or terrarium builds, reptile enclosures, and crafts.

Why scrap costs less: these boxes are mixed rubble straight from our piles, with random sizes, odd shapes, broken edges and offcuts. That makes them just right for mulch, aquariums, terrariums, crafts and fill. All natural, never coated or dyed. Rinse before use, since quarry stone is dusty. Rubble edges are natural and can be sharp, so sand any edge a pet or little hands will touch.
